Gurdwara Sri Tarn Taran Sahib (Dukh Niwaran) Gurdwara Sri Tarn Taran Sahib, popularly known as Dukh Niwaran Sahib, is one of the holiest Sikh shrines in Tarn Taran It was founded in 1590 AD by Guru Arjan Dev, the fifth Guru of the Sikhs, and is a major center of faith and devotion. The name "Tarn Taran" means *"the boat that carries one across the worldly ocean of suffering,"* while "Dukh Niwaran"means *"the remover of sorrows."
